Total Active Content — UV-Vis Method (Third-Party Lab, On-Demand)

An affordable way to verify the active strength of your botanical. This on-demand service measures the total content of a compound class — such as total phenolics, total flavonoids, or total alkaloids — in your selected botanical product, whether whole herb, powder, extract, or other botanical material, using UV-Vis spectrophotometry.
Testing is carried out by an independent, NABL-accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) third-party laboratory. UV-Vis is a well-established, cost-effective method for quantifying the overall level of an active compound group, making it a practical choice for routine screening, batch-to-batch comparison, and sourcing decisions where a total-class figure is sufficient.
How this compares to HPLC: This test reports the total content of a compound class (e.g. total flavonoids), not the concentration of a single named marker compound. If you need a specific individual compound quantified — for example curcumin, or a named withanolide — choose our Active Compound % (HPLC Method) service instead. UV-Vis is the lower-cost option for a group total; HPLC is the definitive option for a specific marker.
What you receive:
- The measured total active content for the specified compound class, reported as % w/w (or equivalent, e.g. mg GAE/g for total phenolics)
- The analytical method and the compound class measured
- A report tied to the specific batch/lot your product is drawn from
How it works:
- Add this service to your order alongside your chosen botanical product.
- We arrange sampling and submit the batch to our partner accredited laboratory.
- You receive the analytical report by email once testing is complete.
Turnaround: 12-14 days from order confirmation. This is a made-to-order analytical service, so a short lead time applies.
Please note: Results pertain to the specific batch/lot tested and report the total content of the specified compound class by the stated method — not the concentration of an individual marker compound. Figures are analytical measurements; this service reports quantitative results and does not constitute a health, therapeutic, or efficacy claim. For which compound class is measured for a given botanical, see the product page or contact us before ordering.
